Family Photography at the Experimental Farm | Ottawa Family Photographers
A few months ago I did an extended family photo session at the Experimental farm in Ottawa with this great family. Last summer I photographed some of them at the Arboretum with some other extended family members.
I would love to photograph you and your family this summer or fall. Contact me today to book your appointment.
Spring Maternity Photos at the Arboretum | Ottawa Maternity Photographer
A few weeks ago I photographed some maternity photos of a good friend of mine and her husband. We did the pregnancy photos at the Ottawa Arboretum as well as at the Experimental Farm. We had to postpone a couple of times to wait for the apple and cherry blossoms to bloom and it was well worth the wait as the trees were so beautiful with pink and white blooms everywhere.
If you haven’t visited the Arboretum or the Experimental Farm in the spring, you are truly missing out. It’s like a bunch of candy floss exploded everywhere (in a good way). I look forward to shooting your newborn photos when your little man decides to see the world with his own little eyes.
For anyone wanting to do maternity photos, contact me. I LOVE shooting maternity portraits. The best time to do a maternity photo session is when you are between 28-32 weeks pregnant.
This past weekend I took some maternity photos of this cute looking couple at the Experimental Farm. I was all excited to do the shoot because I had checked the weather forecast and it said that it would be balmy at -6ºC. Woohoo! Unfortunately, I didn’t look at the wind chill factor, which made it feel more like -13ºC. Fortunately, this couple were real sports in braving the chilly winds to do their outdoor photo shoot. And I’m always game if my clients are too, in terms of doing a photo shoot.
I am so happy with how well this photo session turned out that I had so many fantastic shots to choose from to add to the blog post. Luckily we did the shoot that day, because the wee one decided to come four weeks early and was born the very next morning! Congratulations to the both of you with the arrival of your little boy.

Maternity Photography in an Ottawa Winter Wonderland
Last weekend I had the pleasure to take some winter maternity photos of this great couple. They were real sports about trudging in the snow and getting the shots done–even if it meant no coat or mitts most of the time or walking in deep snow to get to THE SPOT for the best photo backdrop.
It was an absolutely GORGEOUS winter day. It had snowed a lot the day before, so the trees were covered in a blanket of white fluffy snow, while the ground was buried in several feet of snow in some areas. The skies were completely clouded over, which made for some beautifully diffused light. I was SO excited to be shooting these portraits on such a perfect day. This kind of weather is a photographer’s dream–at least it’s my dream. I had envisioned this winter photo session almost exactly how it turned out to be: fresh snow on the ground and on the pine tree branches, no wind and not too cold. It was only -5°C (which is pretty darn mild for Canadians east of BC.)
I look forward to photographing your little one after he/she born. Can’t wait!
Fall Maternity Photography at the Experimental Farm
Last week I shot a maternity photo session with a sweet lady at the Experimental Farm’s ornamental gardens. It was a gorgeous fall afternoon–warm and sunny. It was perfect weather and lighting for a fall photo shoot.
I can’t say enough how lovely the light was. I got some really beautiful maternity photos with dreamy light, beautiful flowers and fall leaves. I was really happy with the photos while I was doing the photo session and was even happier when I saw them in large size on my computer screen. I hope that you enjoy these maternity photos of this lovely lady.
Last week I photographed James and Shawna’s engagement photos. Both grew up in the country and both are very down-to-earth, so they wanted a rustic style engagement session. Now, I am a huge fan of anything remotely rustic (barns, fields, farm posts, hay bales) and so I was really excited to photograph their engagement session at the Experimental farm. We went the week before to scout out the locations and found a whole pile of amazing spots, so all three of us were excited to do the shoot. On the day of the shoot, the weather ended up being beautiful: sunshine and not too hot. It was perfect.
James and Shawna wanted to make sure that they had some photos taken in front of the corn fields, since corn plays a special part in bringing these two together. You see, James used to be a truck driver who brought corn to the ethanol plant four times a day, which is where Shawna worked. They would talk to each other each time he delivered a load of corn and finally after three months of talking to each other, James finally gathered enough courage to ask Shawna out on a date. And if memory serves me correct, on one of their earlier dates, when they were strolling amongst the corn, they had their first kiss. How cute is that?!?!
I am looking forward to photographing their rustic wedding at Strathmere this October.
Experimental Farm Family Portraits (Ottawa portrait photographers)
Last month I photographed a nice little family at the Ottawa Experimental Farm. It was a gorgeous spring day, with lots of sunshine and warmth. I had scouted out the locations that I wanted to shoot a few days earlier and was excited to see one lone tree fully in bloom with gorgeous pink flowers all over it. When I first spotted it, I knew that I had to use it as a backdrop for portraits.
I hadn’t met this family until the day of the photo shoot when we met at the parking lot of the experimental farm. I had sent a clothing guide of what to wear and I was very happy that they were wearing clothes almost like the one in the guide. (I love it when people listen to my advice for photo shoots!) I was also very happy to see that this was a good looking pair, so they helped to make for some nice looking photos. The portrait session went well and I was able to capture some nice mother and son moments. I hope that you will enjoy viewing these photos of a great looking pair.
Experimental farm spring family portrait session (Ottawa Photographers)
Last weekend I was able to photograph some spring family photos of a great family that I have known for the past few years. We took photos in various parts of the experimental farm’s ornamental gardens. As luck would have it, the only large magnolia tree around was fully in bloom with its gorgeous pastel pink flowers everywhere. I was thrilled to see it as I drove past a few days prior to scout out the location and I knew that I had to use that tree as a backdrop to my photos. It ended up giving such a gorgeous pink backdrop to these lovely family photos.
Last summer I photographed their daughter’s cake smash photo session. Since they now have a new addition to their little family, I had the pleasure of photographing their family portraits with the little guy.
I hope that you enjoy these spring portraits of a very cute and loving family that I have the privilege to know. 🙂
Since we still have snow on the ground, I have changed the date of the spring mini photo session to Saturday May 4 to ensure that it will be warmer and that the trees should have some leaves on them by then. They will be held at the Ottawa Experimental Farm’s ornamental gardens.
I still have a few spots left. I hope that you will join me. Please click on the attached poster for details.
