Strathmere Inn Weddings

James + Shawna’s Wedding at Strathmere Inn

A few weeks ago Heather and I photographed James and Shawna’s rustic wedding at Strathmere Inn.  I have wanted to shoot a wedding at Strathmere for quite a while as it is such a beautiful wedding venue.  It did not disappoint as far as beautiful spots to shoot wedding photos.  There are so many rustic spots at this place out in the country.  It went along the same theme as James and Shawna’s country style engagement photos that I shot at the Experimental Farm in the summer.  It was a gorgeous fall day with the sun shining and the trees filled with colourful fall leaves.  My only regret is that there wasn’t enough time to shoot at all of the great spots that I had found while scouting the location earlier.

I really liked the personal touch of having a cousin, Rev. John D. McIntyre, marry them.  They also had some other personal touches throughout their wedding, such as the three sunflowers in Shawna’s bouquet, which represented each of her grandparents that has passed away.  (There were three sunflowers on their wedding cake too.)  They also had turkey feathers incorporated into their table flower arrangements as well as James’s boutonnière.  James is an avid hunter and he and some of his friends went hunting that morning at the crack of dawn and shot their quota within the first hour of hunting.  And last, but not least, James borrowed his ex-boss’s HUGE tractor and drove it to Strathmere so that we could use it for some of the photos.  You can’t even imagine how excited I was to use that massive tractor in some of the photos!  That is right up my alley!

I must mention that I loved the many kind words given by friends and family during the speeches of how kind, friendly and determined in nature both James and Shawna are.  And I loved how James thanked the farmers who attended their wedding as this is a very busy time of year for them.  I really love working with down-to-earth people and humble country folks (I say that with most sincere kindness).  And I loved listening to James and his mother quote verses from the Bible in their speeches.  There is something about these people that make my job more enjoyable and less stressful.  I left their reception feeling in great spirits and extremely happy that these two found a mate as kind and thoughtful as they each are.  Congratulations James and Shawna.  May God bless you with much happiness as well as wisdom to make the right choices to bless you and your family.
